Hay Bay Church 1892
In 1790 Methodism began in New England and gradually spread northward. The first regularly organized Methodist class in Ontario (Upper Canada) was formed on Sunday, February 20, 1791 in the home of Paul Huff, on lot 18, 3rd concession of Adolphustown, edging on the south shore of Hay Bay. In 1792 a group of Adolphustown stettlers raised funds to build the first Methodist church in Upper Canada on Hay Bay.
